Direct answer
Use the “manage preferences” link in a recent Sterling email when available. It is usually the fastest and most accurate way to change subscription categories. If the link does not work, contact Sterling with the email address to update and the categories you want to keep or remove.

How to update preferences
- Open a recent email. Scroll to the footer and select the preference-management link.
- Confirm the email address. Preferences attach to a specific subscribed address, not necessarily an auction bidder account.
- Select the categories to keep. Saving “auction updates only” is different from unsubscribing from everything.
- Save and allow processing time. A campaign already queued may still arrive shortly after a change.
- If the link fails, contact Sterling. Provide the exact email address and desired categories. Do not post the address publicly.
Important distinction: marketing versus transaction messages
Newsletter preferences apply to optional marketing communications. Sterling may still send nonmarketing messages reasonably necessary for an active auction, registration, bid, invoice, payment, inspection, removal, seller agreement, account security or legal obligation.
Unsubscribing from newsletters does not cancel bids, purchases, contracts or removal responsibilities.
Programmer action required
- Connect this page to the actual email service’s preference center or a secure email-address submission form.
- Do not expose subscriber email addresses in page URLs or public source code.
- Send a confirmation or display a clear success/error state.
- Preserve consent and preference records with date, source and subscription category.

Frequently asked questions
Can I receive auction email but stop used-machinery email?
Yes, if the preference system supports categories. Select only the auction updates you want to keep.
Why did I receive an email after changing preferences?
The campaign may already have been queued, the change may still be processing or another email address/list may be subscribed. Contact Sterling with the exact address if messages continue.
Does changing newsletter preferences affect my bidder account?
It should not. Auction-platform account notifications and transaction messages are separate from optional newsletters.
Can I update preferences by phone?
Yes. Call 626-444-0311 and provide the subscribed email address privately.
Is the page functional without programmer integration?
It provides instructions, but a static CMS page cannot update an email database by itself. The preference form or service link must be connected.
